Who We Are

Located in the picturesque Cardigan Village in the municipality of Three Rivers, PEI, this former train station is steeped in history and community. The Cardigan Craft Guild operated out of this location from the 1970’s through to 2012.

The train station has passed hands a few times in the last 15 years but one thing still stands, the community commitment to this building and its meaning for residents. We at Cork Dork Hospitality Inc. take this commitment seriously and consider ourselves not only stewards of the building and grounds but honored residents of the building and caretakers of its history and its prosperous future.

We offer Cafe, Bistro and Pub menus under one roof. While all of our dining areas are licenced, all ages are welcome when accompanied by an adult to 9pm with some exceptions applied for special events.

John Allen MacLean

Arts & Entertainment Coordinator, Supervisor

John Allen is a seasoned hospitality professional with 20 years of experience. He cut his teeth at the Lobster Shanty North while he was in high school and university. He quickly felt at home in the hospitality and environment.

John Allen grew up in nearby new Perth in a large old farmhouse that his family also operated as a boarding home for senior citizens and people convalescing. After graduating from UPEI with his education degree, he headed to Halifax to pursue a career in entertainment. For ten years he performed in plays and musicals, as well as occasionally appearing on local  television productions including the PEI filmed “Emily of New Moon“. He eventually turned his attention to puppetry and began working with Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia. He worked with the troupe performing shows for children and families all over the world. His travels brought him to Japan, Singapore, South Korea, China, Mexico, the UK, and USA. This allowed him the opportunity to experience and learn about food and traditions from many different cultures.

Most recently, John Allen preformed puppetry in the  upcoming TV show “Craig: An East Coast Comeback Story”

John Allen moved back to PEI with his partner in 2017 where they now reside in his childhood home with their chickens, two dogs, and four cats. Since being home he has worked as a substitute teacher in local schools as well and formerly at a local brewery. In his spare time, John Allen is gently working on a book based on his life growing up in a senior citizens home. Stay tuned.
